Practicing ABC's at Home:
· Practice your child’s name: practice making it with the ABC flashcards, writing it on paper, and spelling it whenever you can!
· Use the ABC chart (if you'd like a copy, just ask!) to practice the alphabet. Practice pointing to and recognizing letters in the alphabet.
· Use ABC flash cards: Show your child one at a time and have them name the letter. Have your child practice matching lower and upper case
letters.
· Climb the Stairs: put a letter on each step. Have your child say each letter as they climb up the stairs. Only practice with a few letters a day.
· Letter Hunt: give your child a letter and a newspaper or magazine. Have them hunt through the magazine to see how many times they can find
their letter.
· Hide and Go Seek: hide a few letters around the room. Have your child search the room, find them, and say their name.
· What’s Missing: Place about 4 letters in front of your child. Have them name the letters. Then, have your child close their eyes while you remove one letter. See if they can figure out which letter is missing!
· ABC Eating: Use m&ms or skittles to make the letters of the alphabet.
· Read to your child, then read some more! Read in English and Spanish!

· Take a name of something and have your child identify what the beginning sound/ letter is. For example, if your child is eating cake, say the word “cake” and have them identify the beginning sound and what letter makes that sound!
· Play a guessing game with your child as you’re riding in the car. Tell them you spy something that begins with the sound __ and have them guess what it is. Once they’ve guessed, ask them what letter makes that sound.
